THE SPONSOR VILLAGE AND EVENINGS
THE FUORI GIRO encompasses that whole series of events and activities that “surround” IL GIRO DEI VENTI.
Involving local citizens has been crucial: in the headquarters of the Leuca Naval League has been set up the sponsors’ village that has become the venue for FUORI GIRO events. The village has been enhanced by various booths where sponsoring companies had the opportunity to present their products.
In addition to competition-related activities, the sponsors’ village was enlivened by special events, such as the day I BAMBINI DEL GIRO.
Among the events, the following were organized with great success, two evenings of concerts.
- The first evening featured performances by the Bedixie Dixieland Jass Band, who created a special atmosphere with their Dixieland style of music, typical of 1920s New Orleans. After a touring parade through the streets of Santa Maria di Leuca, the band entertained the audience with its engaging music.
- The second evening featured Tullio De Piscopo, with the extraordinary participation of Raffaele Casarano. The latter was attended by about 2,000 spectators who danced and enjoyed themselves to the Blues and Jazz notes of the two artists. De Piscopo gave the audience an exciting evening, expressing great Mediterranean passion through music. During the concert he also played some notes from the big hits dedicated to his brother in the blues, Pino Daniele.
These events in the sponsors’ village created a festive and engaging atmosphere for both participants and the locals and tourists in attendance.
